Much as I try I can't always be silly rays of giddy sunshine here at MOTM. Take this morning, as the hub slipped back inside the house after starting the car before work he replied, "It is freezing outside!"
"No $#%@" Was my reply, as if I hadn't realized the arctic tundra that's become our little corner of the world. How quickly he forgets I spend 10 to 20 minutes an interval, a dozen plus times a day, outside with two dogs. Not to mention dropping off and picking up two munchkins from school throughout the afternoon.
So yes, I realize it is absolutely frigid outside. Thus my excuse for having not written in a few days. In sorts... I'd just as rather be hibernating but my bigger excuse is that I'm currently very much immersed in the real world. That being the dire oil situation in Europe, the shooting/riots in Oakland and that new HR 4040 law... you might want to take a gander at all these issues if you've been hiding under a rock. Not that I blame you, the world is currently a powder keg. Being under a rock seems a whole lot safer, saner and warmer.
Why does society snub their nose at the messenger of bad news? My mother made such a quip the other night while on the phone. I called to fill her in on the HR 4040 coming to wreck chaos in a city near you come February.
"You are just a ray of sunshine on the phone, aren't you?"
It was a little embarrassing to have to admit to the fact that yes, I immerse myself in doom-news every day. I find it something of a responsibility to spread the word because MSM sure isn't doing the job properly. (Note: If you get all your news from TV and their associated websites, you ARE NOT getting the REAL news. Or rather, not enough sides of REAL news.) So I've spent a bit of time on my second website, Oil and Tar.
That said, I'm gonna dump the doom for a while and join Emma in a little Wii Boogie karaoke. She's out there right now singing, Kung Fu Fighting. Too cute!
Everybody needs a break, once in a while. From giddy goofball bloggers to the messengers of bad news!
